Kendall Samuelson, Young Scholar Award

Kendall Samuelson graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science from California State University in 2010, and completed a M.S. in Animal Science at Angelo State University in 2013. Her graduate work focused on applied solutions for small ruminant producers in the Southwest. In December 2016, Kendall completed her Ph.D. in Animal Science (Ruminant Nutrition) with a minor in Biochemistry at New Mexico State University. Her Ph.D. research focused on the evaluation of nutritional strategies to improve feedlot cattle performance, and on the cultivation of nutritional and management recommendations that can be integrated into the cattle feeding industry. Her specific research interests include protein metabolism, the use of growth-promoting technologies, feedlot cattle management, and stress physiology. During her time as a graduate student at NMSU, Kendall received several graduate student research competition awards. She has also earned numerous honors, most recently receiving the Dean’s Award of Leadership Excellence from NMSU in 2016. She was named Outstanding Graduate Assistant by the NMSU Graduate School in 2015 and was selected as a Texas Cattle Feeders Association Scholar for the last 3 years. Kendall is currently a postdoctoral research associate with Texas A&M AgriLife in Amarillo, Texas. Kendall has authored 2 peer-reviewed manuscripts and served as either an author or co-author on 17 other publications.
