Amelia grew up in Cedar Park, TX and received her B.S. in Animal Science from Texas A&M University in fall of 2014. Motivated by her passion for reproductive physiology and animal agriculture, she pursued her M.S. in Animal Sciences at North Dakota State University under the mentorship of Dr. Kimberly Vonnahme. Her masters work investigated how winter feeding strategies influence uterine hemodynamics in beef cows and subsequent calf health, growth, and carcass quality. Upon completing her M.S. in the summer of 2017, she received a USDA National Needs Predoctoral Fellowship through the Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology Laboratory at Colorado State University where she is currently working towards a Ph.D. Ultimately, she plans to lead her own research program in reproductive biology, investigating how maternal nutritional or environmental stressors modify fetal physiology and postnatal health.
