Distinguished Service Award

Purpose: Recognition of outstanding contributions to the broad field of Animal/Dairy Science.

Eligibility: Must be a member of the ADSA or ASAS and currently active in the field of Animal/Dairy Science. The recipient will be chosen from among the candidates who have long and distinguished service in the Northeast area.

Basis for Selection: Selection from among the eligible candidates will be based upon total achievement in all areas related to animal production and/or their products including the following: teaching, research, extension, responsibilities with national and regional ADSA/ASAS activities (emphasis will be placed on activities within the region), cooperative efforts with livestock and dairy organizations, and demonstrated effectiveness of the candidate's efforts. Recipients will have distinction and leadership in broad areas of work.

Award: The recipient will receive an inscribed plaque presented at the Northeast ADSA/ASAS annual business meeting.

Materials Submitted Should Include:

  • Curriculum Vitae of the nominee, including a list of publications.
  • Summary statement of no more than four (4) pages, establishing the nature and importance of the nominee's contribution to the broad field of Animal/Dairy Science in the Northeast.
  • A citation of no more than 500 words regarding the nominee prepared by the nominator suitable for journal publication.
  • Up to four (4) letters of support for the nomination.

Young Scientist Awards - Educator

Purpose: Recognition of outstanding contributions to the broad field of Animal/Dairy Science by a young scientist as an educator.

Eligibility: Must be a member of the Northeast Regional ADSA-ASAS and currently active in the field of Animal/Dairy Science. The recipient shall have 10 years or less experience beyond the Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree by December 1 of the year awarded. Anyone who has received similar awards at the national level is ineligible for the regional award.

Basis for Selection: Selection from among the eligible candidates will be based upon a contribution related to animal production and/or their products for teaching and (or) extension educational programs, responsibilities with the national and regional ADSA/ASAS activities, with livestock and dairy organizations, and the effectiveness of the candidate's efforts.
