Merlin D. Lindemann, ASAS Fellow: Research Category
Sponsored by American Society of Animal Science
Dr. Merlin D. Lindemann received his BS and PhD degrees at the University of Minnesota. He led the swine research program at Virginia Tech’s Tidewater Station in Virginia for 13 years before joining the Animal Sciences faculty at the University of Kentucky, where he now is actively involved in swine nutrition research and teaching. Dr. Lindemann has a distinguished research and service career. His research with chromium and other minerals has been outstanding. In addition, he has worked with over 55 federal and state agencies, commodity boards, and multi-national companies to address important issues with his research. These issues have addressed societal concerns (animal waste and environmental issues), producer concerns (floor space for pigs; animal welfare), and company interests (new compounds and byproducts). His scholarly achievements in research and his dedicated service to the animal and feed industries make him a worthy recipient of this award.
