Louis E. Russell, ASAS Fellow: Industry Category

Louis Russell is President and CEO of APC, a company operating 18 production facilities in 10 countries around the world producing spray dried blood products.

While at APC, Russell has been instrumental in developing and directing as effective research program contributing significantly to understanding the functionality of spray dried blood in animal feeds. He helped organize and served as the first Chairman of the North American Spray Dried Blood and Plasma Producers, developing processing standards to insure bio-safety and working with government agencies around the world developing feed regulations and trade policy related to feed-grade blood products.

Russell began his professional career in 1984 at Feed Specialties, Premix Division of Central Soya, as a Nutritionist designing feeding programs for the feed industry and integrated livestock producer. He received his BS and MS from the University of Kentucky and his PhD from the University of Illinois.
