Galen Erickson, American Feed Industry Association Award in Ruminant Nutrition Research

Immediately after completing his Ph.D., Galen Erickson joined the Animal Science faculty at the University of Nebraska in 2001 as Assistant Professor and Beef Feedlot Specialist. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2006 and Professor in 2010. Since 2012, he has held the Nebraska Cattlemen’s endowed Cattle Industry Professorship. Galen has rapidly earned the reputation as the leading feedlot ruminant nutritionist in the U.S. He has earned the respect and appreciation of the industry for his professional and personal skills that continue to grow. He has a research, extension and teaching appointment, and is one of those rare individuals who can handle a three-way appointment and absolutely excel in all three areas. Galen has an exemplary record of publications and extramural support. Outstanding motivation, dedication to excellence in fulfilling position responsibilities, and effective leadership are hallmarks of his performance.
