Digestive Physiology of Pigs Lecture and Lunch

Highlights of the Digestive Physiology of Pigs Lecture and Lunch, Sponsored by: DPP-NA.

Presenting Speaker: Dr. Theodoor Niewold, KU Leuven

AGP were supposed to work based on an antibiotic mechanism, but without conclusive evidence. Growth is reciprocal to inflammation, so it is evident that the observed effects must be based on an anti-inflammatory mechanism. This has been confirmed by omics techniques, and by using simple non-invasive biomarkers in vivo. It is now very easy to select effective alternatives to AGP. Dr. Niewold proposed alternatives such as pharmaceutical, plants and fatty acids.
