WCAP session to focus on antibiotic resistance

We are pleased to bring you more information about the next World Conference on Animal Production (WCAP), which will be held directly ahead of the 2018 ASAS-CSAS Annual Meeting & Trade Show in Vancouver, Canada. The meeting will include a session on "Higher food safety to enhance consumer confidence."

The session will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018. Speakers for this session include:

  • Dr. Herman Barkema (University of Calgary, Canada): Effect of the use of antibiotics in food animals on antibiotic resistance in food animals and humans
  • Dr. Amy Pruden (Virginia Tech): Critical Control Points for preventing the spread of antibiotic resistance associated with cattle manure to fresh produce
  • Dr. Uwe Rössler (Free University of Berlin, Germany): The challenge of antimicrobial resistance on the animal-human-environment interface


The session also will include 15-minute talks selected from submitted abstracts.
